• Manuscript Review. Reviewed and edited a draft of Dr. Frank A. Blazich Jr.’s chapter, “Feathers and Formats: Information, Technology, and Homing Pigeons in War,” subsequently published in The Routledge Handbook of Information History (2025).
• National Park Service Research Assistance. Provided historical sources and research materials to a ranger at Gateway National Recreation Area for a proposed exhibit on military pigeons at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, New York.
• Nova Mundi Studios — Historical Consulting. Curated historical photographs, film, and other source material for a British documentary on pigeon keeping, Home (2025).
• Oral History Research. Interviewed a retired warrant officer concerning the 1st Marine Division’s use of pigeons for chemical-detection work before the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Current Research

• U.S. Coast Guard Pigeon Communications — use of homing pigeons at early U.S. Coast Guard air stations.
• Pigeons and Emergency Communications — military and civilian pigeon networks used during disasters, infrastructure failures, and other communications emergencies.
• Naval Pigeon Communications, c. 1870s–1920s — comparative research on the development and use of homing-pigeon systems by the U.S. Navy and foreign naval services.
